Choreography & Tempo
It was back to Westland this last week to do a fun lesson learning about Tempo with the Kindergarteners, and starting a 2 part Choreography study with the 5th graders.
In Kindergarten we learned about slow, medium, and fast tempos. We used a hand drum, and a variety of music to clap, stomp, and dance to different speeds. For this fun playlist of songs, go to the Resources page of my website and follow me on Spotify! The "Tempo K" playlist is so much fun!
In 5th grade, we were learning a few basics of composition, using locomotor steps and partner spatial relationships to create short mini dances. We also added some "SPICE" to our dancing by coming up with words like deathly, tired, awkward, etc. from a few different sources, such as visual art, poetry, and music. For the full lesson plan, go to the Documents page and look for the "Skin & Bones" lesson plan.
I'm excited to see how our final "Skin & Bones" choreography project turns out in 2 weeks! It will be some spooky, dance fun!
