Folk Dance

The last two visits to Westland have been with this new 5th grade class! I decided to shift gears a little bit and do a little Folk Dance during the month of November. We learned two different dances: the D'Hammerschmiedsg'selln from Germany & the Armenian Miserlou from Armenia. The students really seemed to enjoy the D'Hammerschmiedsg'selln! They kept wanting to practice it over and over again even when we were through...I'm sure their classroom teacher saw some dancing throughout the day during lunch and recess. One thing I observed was that the students seemed to be surprised at how hard they found these simple dances to be. It was a good learning curve for both them and me!
